Commencement Speaker Application

The Student Commencement Speaker represents the graduating class with a two-minute speech at May’s Commencement Ceremony. This role is an opportunity to celebrate achievements, reflect on the past, and share a vision for the future. The chosen speaker will join pre-commencement activities and sit on the main stage.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be graduating in the summer, fall, or spring of the application year
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.85 or higher at the time of application
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills/abilities
  • Ability to effectively convey educational and other relevant experiences both verbally and in writing
  • Completed application submitted by Monday, April 20, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.
    • Your application must include a link to a video sample of your speech. 
    • We suggest uploading your video to YouTube (set video to unlisted), OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. 
    • Test your video link before submitting by opening it in a private/incognito browser to confirm it works without requesting permission.
    • For tech help, stop by a Student Center.
